Awakened Citizen Program

(For full information go to : http://theawakenedcitizen.org)

The Awakened Citizen Program is based on the message that each one of us, carries within, an infinite source of power, strength and goodness. This power and strength can be felt, every time we say “I CAN”. This infinite power gets manifested as various possibilities. The more we consciously develop or manifest these possibilities, the more faith we develop in ourselves. The Awakened Citizen Program is designed to help discover and manifest the infinite power within each one of us.

The Human Possibilities Framework has been formulated to help understand and explore the infinite possibilities within us. The possibilities are broadly classified into two categories:

Universal Possibilities: These are open to each one of us irrespective of religion, caste, age, gender, education, family background.

Unique Possibilities: These can be developed based on our talents, interests, environment and self-effort. The Unique Possibilities have been further classified into Knowledge Possibilities and Physical possibilities.

Program Outline

One of the major problems confronting us today is that children seem to be growing up stressed and confused because they are not armed with the right tools to face real-life problems and make the right choices. To address this need, Ramakrishna Mission, New Delhi has developed a unique three-year graded value education program titled.

The Awakened Citizen Program for students of Classes 6, 7 & 8 or Classes 7, 8 and 9 (Year-1, 2 and 3) as per schools’ convenience.

Vision

Our vision is to enable the development of Awakened future citizens by allowing them to discover a Value System for themselves. Swami Vivekananda undertook a Bharat Parikrama as a wandering monk from 1887 to 1893. His vision of education was unique.  He said that education should instill a deep sense of Atmashraddha or self-belief in the students, which should help them stand on their own feet and enable them to face the challenges of life. He wanted man-making and character-building education. He defined education as the manifestation of perfection already in man. The followers of Swami Vivekananda, particularly those belonging to the Ramakrishna Mission, have been quoting Swami Vivekananda’s messages on education from various platforms for more than 100 years.
